History
Mr. Scott was born on August 1, 1948 and is a lifelong resident of the Wheaton and Glen Ellyn area. He was educated in the Wheaton school system and graduated in 1970 from St. Louis University in Saint Louis, Missouri. He earned his juris doctor degree at DePaul University in 1973. He was an Assistant States Attorney for DuPage County from 1973-1977 where he prosecuted all types of criminal offenses including reckless homicides and tried many cases to verdict before juries as well as bench trials.
He joined the Wheaton law firm of Mirabella & Kincaid, P.C. where he practiced for 24 years. During that time he began to concentrate his practice in family law including representing clients in dissolution of marriage, paternity, child custody, child support and all issues related to family law.
In 2001 he, Joseph M. Beck and John P. Houlihan founded Beck, Houlihan & Scott, P.C. He has continued his concentration in family law continuing to represent clients in complex and sophisticated matrimonial matters.
Mr. Scott has represented numerous clients in the trial courts of the State of Illinois and also before the First, Second and Third Appellate Court Districts as well as having argued before the Illinois Supreme Court. He has also been involved in drafting and preparation of legislation and has testified before committees of the Illinois Legislature. He was involved in the passage in to law of the legislation permitting the entry of Qualified Illinois Domestic Relations Orders and the division of Illinois State pension plans between spouses in Illinois.
Mr. Scott has chaired the Family Law and Practice Committee of the DuPage County Bar Association as well the Entertainment and Judiciary Committees. He has served on the General Assemble of the Illinois State Bar Association and on the Family Law Section Council of the Illinois State Bar Association. He is a past president of the DuPage County Bar Association.
Mr. Scott is a member of the DuPage County Bar Association and of the Illinois State Bar Association. He is a Fellow of the prestigious American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and is currently serving as the president of the Illinois Chapter of the Academy.

Mr. Scott and his wife reside in Glen Ellyn and are the parents of one son.
